Rockets Red Glare, oil on canvas, 12x12, 2008This painting was one of my first abstractions. It began as most of my works do, with me simply experimenting with application techniques. I stopped painting because I felt it had nice rhythm and pattern variation. Looking at it now I can see how I was inspired by the artists I was reading about, Frankenthaler and Jasper Johns and Rothco.
