Thanksgiving, oil on canvas, 10"x12", 2009
The night before Thanksgiving Day I saw the most beautiful sunset from the top of Interstate 110.  It was so breathtaking I couldn't take my eyes off of it, it is a wonder how I didn't drive myself off the overpass. I started painting this as soon as reached my bedroom studio, on top of a canvas that I had been working on for a year without success.

To and Fro, oil and canvas, 14"x14", 2009

Rockets Red Glare, oil on canvas, 12x12, 2008

This painting was one of my first abstractions. It began as most of my works do, with me simply experimenting with application techniques. I stopped painting because I felt it had nice rhythm and pattern variation. Looking at it now I can see how I was inspired by the artists I was reading about, Frankenthaler and Jasper Johns and Rothco.

"Aerial" oil on canvas, 12"x16", 2009

I used this canvas to explore texture. My paint applications ranged from pouring liquid solutions, applying paint chips picked from the bottom dirty jars, as well as, more tradition brushwork. What I found most exciting about this work was that my paint applications mimic the natural ways in which the elements (sand and sea) move and form.
